FRINGE-ALICIOUS.

by Jamila Pierre

So if you’ve been paying close attention to my current obsessions, you know I’ve been heavily going steady with the Famous brand store.

No, I’m not sponsored by them….they don’t know I even exist actually, but it changes nothing about how I feel about this store. Like I said in prior posts, their pricing, in conjunction with their color coded deals, make for an overwhelmingly enjoyable shopping adventure.

I’ve legit found sooooo many ridiculously fab pieces, at some of the lowest prices around, and it seriously gives ya girl a THRILL!!!

For instance, look at this denim colored fringed dress, HUNNAAAAY. I saw it hidden between some other fringed items (which I’m sure you already know I also bought), and it was the first thing to scream out at me. At first glance it seemed as though it might not fit, especially because it barely went beyond and XL, but I persevered and kept my eyes peeled whilst canvasing the entire store for at minimum one more size up.

I couldn’t get it out of my head but after going through almost all of the racks, I just about gave up…..and then there it was, a XXL just waiting for me to make my move and buy her up (all for a whopping $7…you read right, $7).

If you’re coming to the blog and staying awhile to catch up, you’ll begin to see a pattern. I love a good deal, and I will hunt one to the end of the earth. I’m a FIRM believer on boujee on a budget. Most often, people are shocked to hear where I’ve acquired my pieces and for how much. Stick with me kid, and I’ll have you serving lewks AND still be able to pay bills, eat out, and keep a roof over your head….just to name a few.

I’ve also spoken at great length about my love of certain color combos, a warm toned brown (on the orange spectrum), paired with any and all blues? Très magnifique! So, I’m not gonna bore you with all of that….this time, **Laughs Out Loud**

The fringe on this dress is just f’ing eggzzzellent ** Mr. Burns voice **, it gives just the right amount of sass even though it’s incredibly casual. And to think, if I had been “too good” to bargain shop or had I given up on the hunt….I would’ve not come across such a piece. I’m tellin’ you, don’t ever sleep on ANY store, ANY venue, etc…

You never know what you’ll find.

BOSS BITCH.

by Jamila Pierre

Oh, hey there, how goes it? Me? Not too good…. but a bitch still fly tho.

You know when your ability to stunt provides you much needed reasons to sashay, to smile, to wake up in the morning? I have a few reasons on a list that I toggle through from time to time and it helps me get through…. even when times get real rough like they are right in this moment.

There’s this idea floating around that one shouldn’t be defined by this, that, and the third; to that I say…Eh…..

I understand and believe in that as well to some extent, but I also understand the NEED for these things, these identifiers, I understand the compulsion to grab hold of what we deem to be “beauty”, “dope-ness”, anything we classify as “good”. When you’re surrounded or consumed with immense amounts of “negativity”, you hold on tight.

There is nothing, NOTHING, wrong with wanting to attain beauty or fly-ness…. you just have to make sure it’s your standards you’re trying to uphold, and most importantly that you’re regularly checking yourself to make sure you’re not being your own bully, unreasonable, and/or unrealistic.

I’m still working on this, balance is difficult, trust. Though I take up residence in the gray, and recognize its existence for most…., I still very often conduct myself in black and/ or white while trying to make these multitude of facets align. It’s just…..a trip…let me tell you.

But for now, let’s all bask in all my bossy bitch shit.

I bought this knit blazer almost two yrs ago right before it hugely popped off (the print that is) and I remember thinking to myself….this is gonna be huge again….I had no idea how much so (well I kinda did, but at this point it’s real crazy how saturated the market is with this print).

I truly never base my looks OR the pieces I choose to adorn myself with, on what’s going on in the world or whoever the fuck Pantone is….there…I said it (#ISaidWhatISaid), but I do have a sense as to what will be popular even before it is…and most times my contrarian ass just up and does the opposite.

However, I’d be dead lying if I said I didn’t love a good blazer, much less a classic print such as this one.

I was drawn to this blazer because of how the button placement emphasized my figure. Most of the time I wear what abstractly speaks to me (in all it’s juxtaposition glory), and sometimes the person I want to be is more inclined to dabble in balance. Well, I always believe in balance and try to exude in my looks, but it can be more of an organized clutter sometimes (most times) and other times it’s extremely structured (sometimes sans the stiffness), this outfit happens to veer on the side of a soops structured balance. I’m givin’ classic T’s fo sho **Insert thick New York Accent**.

The blazer is knit and has pretty much ZERO stiffness-structure, so the added emphasis to my shape is where the balance comes into play.

The white top (also a classic…are you seeing a theme here?), is also what I deem an “unbasic-basic” (I’m coining that term by the way, don’t @ me), and I decided to play with the shape of that too. The jeans have a bit of stylish flare as well, along with the shoe choice; all together this whole look is a perfect nod to the past while still very much so keeping things modern.

Honestly as I’m sitting here writing this post…I’m looking at this whole outfit and it’s further solidified that there’s nothing like a white shirt, it seriously elevates any and every look and the details on the sides of my pant legs…just absolutely flawless. The best part of this whole look is how super attainable it is, most of us have some variation of these pieces in our arsenal already. So even though I’m going to to hit you with some useful links…it doesn’t mean you should look anywhere but your own wardrobe FIRST!

I chose to pair this look with two different pairs of shoes. The vibes are only minutely different but they are still significant enough to include. I purchased these shoes not only because they are fly…but because they closely resemble a pair of GUCCI shoes and they were on sale for $14, HUGE SCORE!!!

When I saw them just thrown about in the Target near me, there was only the left shoe and when I saw the discounted price…I went on a mission to find the right shoe, needless to say, it was a success. Now, I’m sad to say, these specific shoes are no longer available but I’ve done y’all the solid and found a few alternatives and linked them below. Don’t worry, I’ve got y’all’s backs.

Actually, pretty much none of these items are available anymore….but I’m definitely going to include as many alternatives as possible as per usual. I want my babes out there to not only get creative with their own closets, but I want you to be able to (at minimum) ride a similar wave if you so desire.

What I am considering more and more each day (due to a constant inquiry about my sunnies) is conducting a huge Sunglasses Giveaway of a bunch of shades I’ve acquired over the last few months, AAAAANNNNDDDDD…..I’m considering a poll of some sort on my IG stories (real soon so keep an eye out), on which sunglasses I’ve worn in all my selfie/OOTD posts, that you’d like to be included, and I’ll see what I can do.
