GLOWING WITH THE FLOW (A 15 NEON PALETTE TRIBUTE)

by Jamila Pierre

Yet another trend that is finally being fleshed out. Gone are the days we had only the Titans Of Neon, SUVA Beauty, now many brands are trying their hand at the unique formulations that “bring on the bright”.

I can’t vouch for every palette on this list but I can vouch for some of the brands formulations that range from good to brilliant.

The Andy Warhol Palette

First up, this little gem I found on Esty, The Andy Warhol Palette. It caught my attention immediately. Fun and artistic, this is def one of the most true to neon palettes on this list. As I said, I’m not too familiar with the formula but if a neon palette is what you’re looking for, it doesn’t get more neon than this….besides SUVA Beauty Neons.

Andy Warhol Neon Palette

Neon Drip Palette

I have literally had my eyes on this beauty for over a year, if not more, and I swear I will get this before the year is up. How stunning is this palette y’all?! The color story is captivating and every shade compliments each other well. #GetInMyCollection

Neon Drip Palette

The Escape Pod Palette

THIS amazing palette I own. The pigmentation is superior, the color story impeccable, and some of the best monies spent to date. Kaleidos is the jam. Run don’t walk.

The Escape Pod Palette

The Garden Of My Mind Palette

Yet another in a long list of palettes on the wish-list, as Moira Beauty is a highly unrated brand with a delightful formula and quality. What’s more, it’s more on the affordable side of the pricing spectrum.

Garden Of My Mind Palette

The Glamlite Paint Pro Palette

This brand has a plethora of captivating palettes that tickle fancies far and wide, hitting the sweet spot of the many. Between their fun color choices, luxe texture, and excitingly unique themes/packaging….I mean….how could anyone resist? They have colors that range from ethereal pastels, vibrant rainbow brights, sensual neutrals, and electric neons that will kick your looks up several notches for sure.

Paint Pro Palette

The Youtopia Palette

This is one of the newer light bright releases on this list. It came out with a cake liner palette that’s water activated and equally as vibrant. I’m not gonna get it because it isn’t my vibe or color preference, but I am still curious about it. Did any of y’all cop this bad boy? If so…was it all that and a chip factory? I own at least one Beauty Bay eyeshadow palette and the quality is top tier.

Youtopia Palette

The Melt Radioactive Palette

Now, Melt is pricey as hell, I’m on the edge of whether it’s worth it or not (because my experience is hit or miss with them), but one of the more explosive and impressive releases from them (The Muerte Palettes) I had to get my hands on. I was NOT disappointed. The palettes released in that collection were met with a few mixed reviews but I think those were based on potential lack of experience with highly pigmented pressed pigments, or the wildly intense color choice. But even THEN, there were a many who copped it for its sheer divine beauty as a whole. All I know is my experience with my last purchase was enough of a win to make me take another look. This radioactive palette was very close to being purchased but I already had a similar one from Kaleidos Makeup so I didn’t take the leap….doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.

Radio Active Palette

The Wired Palette

Oh Urban Decay……., you hurt me so. A once edgy brand that set the tone for the grungy street urchin I was back in the good ole’ “Cube Dayz”, in the East Village of the L.E.S in NYC. Then you turned your back on us alternative murder of crows and leaned into the more mainstream neutral palette spectrum; you left us behind and began catering to the #TheBasicBitch. That’s great for them…but what about us? So when you released this palette I was excited to say the least. Even with all the mixed reviews, I took the leap and got my hands on it; at a discounted price of course….because I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t and I just couldn’t be reckless with a purchase after being burned by a brands faltering identity. I got my mitts of it and I actually DO like it, quite a bit. Thank the lord. Urban Decay, bring us more in the way of more interesting concepts and color story and make a 80s baby happy again.

The Wired Palette

Profusion’s Neon Palette

Profusion is yet another affordable brand with high quality shadows. I own one of the many offerings on their site, and I’m definitely pleased. Plus, the reviews are fairly unanimous, people love Profusion.

Neon Profusion Palette

The Roaring 20s Neon Palette

AHHHHHH this brand has some of the best quality for the price out there. It’s primo AF! I own the Roaring 20s Reckless Palette and the color story is incredibly inspiring and the swatches and shadow textures are drool-worthy; I don’t doubt this palette delivers the same. I honestly want it as much if not more than the neon drip palette.

The Roaring 20s Neon Palette

The Dreamer Palette

You know me and the damn discounts/ anything affordable that’s good quality, it’s in my wheelhouse for sure. I love this brands Peach palette and if that palette is any reflection of the brands quality…I’m in.

Dreamer Palette

The Neon Lights Palette

I was surprised to see Lorac do color, let alone “Neons”, because they are a #NeutralBaes dream. But hey, tis’ the season of color baby.

Neon Lights Pro Palette

The Birds Of Paradise Palette

I currently own their Marijuana palette and I love it. Makeup Revolution has many baby companies under its umbrella and they cater to many different preferences, price points, and quite frankly it isn’t all created equally. I do find myself fancying their “Chocolate Bar” Palettes and food themed palettes, but these Forever Flawless Palettes are quite beautiful too.

Birds Of Paradise Palette

The Bright Vibes Neon Palette

i own their eight-pan purple palette and JESUS is it STUNNING! I don’t doubt this delivers on the same quality front.

Bright Vibes Neon Palette

The Pastel City Lights Palette

If you’ve read this entire post then you should be familiar with my feelings about the brand Rude Cosmetics. This baby will also be going on the wish list (even though it’s more like neon pastels than just pastels) and to boot, this lovely palette has an older sister; more shadows for your buck.

Rudeflix City Of “Pastels” (More Like Neon Pastels) Palette

And that’s the last of this list for now. stay tuned for more on the eyeshadow palette trends hit us this year.

15 Fairy Palettes (Better Known As Pastels). Tis' the season

by Jamila Pierre

A pastel moment.

Ok, ok, I know… pastels and flora’s for spring isn’t exactly innovative…nothing new here. Actually, it’s safe to say that in the summer time it’s even less ground breaking. But in an interesting turn of events, over the last 2yrs or so the makeup industry has stepped its game all the way up when developing some pretty amazing pastel color-cosmetics. Tis’ the season to go big or go home. And to be clear, in my world, it’s always the season.

The Pastel Dreams Palette

This here Pastel Dreams from Give Me Glow Cosmetics was/is a pretty penny. It was worth it to me but I do have a few palettes in mind that dupe the vibes in case you're not looking to spend this kind of money. The palette is permanent so no need to rush to get it (honestly I wish they would've specified that as to not spark a frenzy...but I guess that was the point, huh? Business is business I guess). In any event if you really want this beauty and the remarkable quality that is #GiveMeGlowCosmetics; stack your funds little by little and pounce. Otherwise, you might be interested in the "#DupeingTheVibes" options imma hit y'all with down below:

The So Mermazing Palette

This So Mermazing palette is an equally gorgeous color-story as the Pastel Dream palette (awesomely and coincidently the owners of these two palettes are friends. I think it’s safe to say great minds think alike). I have still yet to acquire this mermazing palette, and though it has mixed reviews (for it’s lack of depth for peoples with deeper skin tones and for the powdery/chalky nature of their mattes….but tbh pastels usually have this issue sooooo….) I still can’t wait for it’s restock so I can get my hands on it, if not for the stunning shimmers alone.

SO MERMAZING PALETTE

The Cloud Dye Vault

This is a the vault but personally I’m more drawn to certain color stories, so I just welcomed the Aura and Out palette to my collection and it is quite beautiful. I can’t speak for the quality of the other palettes in this vault so I apologize for that but on the up side… these palettes are sold separately. And, there are a plethora of swatches and reviews for each of the palettes I’ve mentioned in this post, on the YouTubes.

CLOUD DYE VAULT

The Mint To Be Palette

The Mint To Be palette is another wonderful option in all its ethereal glory, and is very reminiscent of the Aura & Out palette previously mentioned. They are easily interchangeable in the case that one is out of stock or if one becomes discontinued. PLUS, the Mint To Be offers more in the way of depth.

COLOURPOP MINT TO BE PALETTE

The Pretty Guardian

Now look, I’m an 80’s baby and I grew up during the Sailor Moon era. I was a super fan. So when they came out with this palette I was sooooooooo close to welcoming this beaute into Le Collection *add the necessary accents when saying that*, I hesitated. And even though I’m still considering acquiring it, I don’t think I’ll get it (don’t hold me to that); especially because I ended up purchasing the What Dreams Are Made Of palette below the Lilac You A Lot palette and they are easily interchangeable. That one also provides more variety of depth. consider this palette the baby sister of “What Dreams Are Made Of”…even though this one was ”born” first.

COLOURPOP PRETTY GUARDIAN SAILOR MOON PALETTE

The Lilac You A Lot

I have no experience with this palette, but it’s been on my radar for quite some time. In currently have it’s “Aunty” (the It’s My Pleasure palette), she is again giving me all sorts of range of depth that I typically go for in color-story, so I haven’t bit the bullet on the Lilac You a Lot palette. But, it is a pretty lil’ palette though, don’t you think?

COLOURPOP COSMETICS LILAC YOU A LOT PALETTE

What Dreams Are Made Of

This is the palette I was referring to being the older sister of the Pretty Guardian palette, the one I actually purchased. It is a stunner for sure, but one of the hugest draws for me was the collab with Lizzy McGuire. As I stated earlier, I grew up on this shit. The nostalgia is REAL! This palette is a spring/summer STUNNER fo’ sho’.

COLOURPOP WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF LIZZIE MCGUIRE PALETTE

The Flower Power Palette

I have zero experience with this Flower Power palette, but with the extensive experience I have with the brand BH Cosmetics allows me to say with much certainty that the formula is A1. So really, it’s about color-story preference and relevance to the topic at hand. I saw this pink and purple delight with a dash of grounding neutrals, and I just knew it belonged here on this list of spring/summer options.

BH COSMETICS FLOWER POWER EYESHADOW PALETTE

The Lost In Los Angeles

Oh my word! This palette here is honestly one of the best spring break/summer vacay companion palettes out there. it is sheer perfection as far as fun pops of ethereal, and has some of the BEST matte pastels on the market; even Natasha Denona couldn’t get matte pastels right in her Tri-Chrome palette. Consider every brand put on notice, because BH Cosmetics is in dis bitch.

BH COSMETICS LOST IN LOS ANGELES EYESHADOW PALETTE

The Pastel Pup Palette

It’s unfortunate that this palette is out of stock because I would get it, so hard. In general Menagerie has some impeccable shadows/ formulations, so I have no real doubts that this one will be fiya. Plus, it has gotten a substantial amount of rave reviews. Any of y’all own this palette and care to chime in on your opinions?

MENAGERIE COSMETICS PASTEL PUP PALETTE

The Tokyo Harajuku Palette

There are like three palettes from this brand (Nomad Cosmetics) that I’ve wanted for quite some time now…..well….one of them was just release not long ago. Either way, this brand has been on my radar as a must-try for a long time now. I will be making a purchase soon enough and I’ll be able to flesh out my views on this palette and the brands formulation over all. Till then…we wait. Just marvel at how beautiful it is and scan the YouTubes for some of the glowing reviews and stunning swatches.

NOMAD COSMETICS TOKYO HARAJUKU PALETTE

The Sweet Delights Palette

This Sweet Delights palette actually has a bunch of other siblings that are sold in a collective vault along side this one (I intend to get them all at some point for sure), and I can say with confidence that they will probably be all that and a chip-factory. The palettes that Moira Beauty releases are pretty flames overall so I’m super excited to acquire these; I can only hope my pockets will forgive me.

MOIRA BEAUTY SWEET DELIGHTS PALETTE

The Remix Dance 90’s Palette

Back at it again with these amazing formulas and spring/summer options, BH. Like I’ve stated before, it’s more about what color-story or even what color-gaps you have in your current collection, and less about whether these are any good. The best part about BH Cosmetics is the small price tag for maximum quality.

The Sweet On Hue Artistry Palette

To be honest, I like some of Morphe’s formulations and I don’t find it difficult to work with as some might have found. The reviews on the quality and it's over all hit-or-miss possibilities are all over the place, but I’ve had some good luck thus far. Even when the whole Jacklyn Hill vault Collection debacle took place….the palettes I purchased were of good quality. Now listen, I know there are reasons as to why that might be, but all in all my “luck” has been fairly good and on the “hit” side of the spectrum. And the reputation of the brand is about as hit-or-miss as the quality of their palettes, but I’ve heard good things about this palette in particular.; that paired with the luck I’ve had thus far….I’d take the gamble. I want this Sweet On Hue Artistry palette, how ‘bout you?

MORPHE COSMETICS SWEET ON HUE PALETTE

The Creepy Cute Palette

Last but not least, we have Shroud Cosmetics’ (formally Strobe Cosmetics) Creepy Cute palette. This palette was the one of the O.G’s in the pastel palette world. The quality and color-story of this palette is still spoken about in some of the highest regard in the beauty-sphere. One day I will own it, you?

Morphe Brushes Review: 35W & 35B Palette.

by Jamila Pierre

The 35W is my favorite palette by Morphe Brushes so far (then again...I've only tried two). I look forward to trying out more of their products and reviewing them in the future, I definitely have my eyes on their brushes...that's next on the list!

Below are swatches of each eye shadow in each palette, with and without flash. Hope this helps in your decision making, but if you ask me....you NEED the 35W, LOL.

35W WITH FLASH!!!

35W WITHOUT FLASH!!!

Then we have the 35B palette, it had some really beautiful colors...but some of the colors were a definite miss.

35B WITH FLASH!!!

35B WITHOUT FLASH!!!

Well there you have it, my swatches, and if you watch my review on my YouTube channel you'll see how I feel about these two palettes. Don't forget to Like, Comment, & Subscribe ; )
