Almost didn't make it this week (by not making it I mean with my illness kicking my ass left and right and the high taxes one must pay to live in the shitty of townsville), but by the grace of something greater than me (whether it be outside human influence, a higher being and/or power, or who knows what), I was able to press on...I'm hoping you were able to as well. At the height of my crisis it dawned on me that mid week it was "Are you OK?" day...the very same day I really began to fold ( I almost found humor in that). It also occurred (not that I am so blinded by my own bubble that I couldn't be bothered to notice a world beyond my own) that I was lucky to have a means at least someone to unleash my frustrations upon. I had at the very least just one ear to listen...one shoulder to cry on (even if they lived on the other side of the fence of the world I lived in), what about all the people who don't have anyone? There was a time when I felt this way, when I was surrounded by shitty friends and shitty people in general; all I had was my music.
Which brings us to why this playlist is so important to me (aside from it giving you insight as to what makes me who I am), it allows me to share pieces of feel-good with you that you can take with you and add to your very own playlist. Maybe, just maybe, a number of these songs could spark a feeling of chill vibes, some "fun sun", some nostalgia, something to dance to, or even let you dig deep into a sore spot or reopen a wound that needed to be worked on so you can heal...in my humble opinion...music does that. If I can do that for someone...provide that (and not just with this playlist, but with all aspects of my blog), then I've done my job. You may not feel like you have anyone, but I'll do my best to either take the job or supply you with the tunes that'll guide you through those times; good or bad.
And lastly, I must ask (even though the official day is long gone), Are You OK?
As always, my focus is primarily on individual songs that I want to share with you! Now, some you may not like, some you may love, some you may remember, and some may be new to you and heading to your music device stat...either way, this is a peek into my music world and my taste. Respect it, enjoy it, and I hope I either introduce you to something or bring back fond memories.
