See You Later Alligator. After While Crocodile.

by Jamila Pierre

Yet another custom piece from Eric Walcott.

The idea behind this piece was to add punch to a 1950's classic.

This dress has the classic silhouette that we all know and love, but it's done in this funky crocodile/alligator print. The dark parts of the print are a black shiny "wet-look" material and I fell head over heels the moment I laid eyes on it.

At first I intended to have this material as the top portion of this dress and a solid on the bottom....tre tacky....and not in a good way. I don't know what I was thinking...

Then I told her to just make the entire dress in this material, and boy am I entirely too happy with the result!

I spent an entire day in her home while she finished off my custom pieces, because Erica Walcott believes in perfection, and she wasn't letting me leave until I got exactly what I asked for, not to mention that she made my epic jacket in less than two hours...she wasn't playing games.

Once it was all done, I put it on for the final time at her home, and can I just say SWOON!

But can you say pockets?!

Monochrome & Sequins

by Jamila Pierre

Let me just say, that I've loved monochrome since before I was born, especially when it's done in earth/jewel tones, or muted dusty tones...

JESUS THERE GOES THAT WHEEL AGAIN, TAKE IT!

It's so effortless and put together that you really can't go wrong, a perfect excuse to play with textures and shine to give your outfit depth and layers.

Which brings me to the next topic, SHINE!

Anyone who knows me, knows of my love affair with reflective materials and the bold statement it makes, give me GLITTER, SEQUINS, HOLOGRAPHIC AND/OR METALLIC MATERIALS any day...any time.

Oh and don't get me started on bejeweled necklines, especially on sweaters and crew-neck sweatshirts. I just love punchy articles of clothing and unexpected touches (that's what she said), so you could imagine my elation when I saw an anorak jacket adorned with sequin sleeves... needless to say I was passing out status.

At this point you might be asking yourself why i'm always either passing out or on the brink of passing out due to clothing or accessories....it's just that some things are just so damn GOOD, such GENIUS, and undoubtedly speak to my SOUL, I just can't help but get a little light headed when there's a fierce overload.

I decided to go with a pair of brown boots that had copper, distressed tones to it so it can act more like a piece of jewelry as opposed to just a boot.
