TEYXO.

by Jamila Pierre

Upon one of my many "burning the midnight oil" online search extravaganzas, I came across a unique custom clothing brand, TEYXO. I was immediately drawn into her use of fabrics and silhouettes (as I sat there looking through all of her pages imagining how her pieces would work for me in my everyday life).

By the time I was done with the fashion montage that was swirling through my brain, I knew I wanted to let my readers and supporters know who the designer of TEYXO (Lara Roxana Popa) was, and where they could get her fun, spirited, and cool designs from.

I didn't just want to tell everyone through an Instagram post about how excellent and unique TEYXO was, and what enormous potential the brand possessed (inserts a photo of a dress); I wanted to introduce the readers to the designer and the brand....so an interview ensued {HERE}.

During the time frame of discovery, contact, conversing, collecting information, developing a relationship, etc..., I became somewhat invested in the potential of this ever growing brand. She only  launched TEYXO in 2014, but if she keeps going in the direction she's going and continues to be playful in her design approach (providing us with a less stuffy aesthetic, to which we're all more accustom to),  she will definitely make a notable name for herself very soon.

What I love about her designs most, aside from the undeniable flare, is the fact that you can make slight adjustments to each piece you order. Listen, I'm all about retail shopping (online/retail shopper's anonymous, in the hizz-ouse), but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that the idea/actuality of having something custom made or fitted has been spoiling.

The designer of TEYXO, Lara Roxana Popa, allowed me to pick a few pieces from her line to review, within the few pieces I picked was this Asymmetrical Flared Wool Coat, the coat literally screamed my name....SCREAMED! From the color choice to the textural dimension, to the visual darting at the waist and bust-line (which I'm loving because I'm curvy but I'm not that curvy and could use all the help I can get), to the way it slightly puffs out in the back (giving me a little more booty than I actually have...EXCELLENTE!).

The pieces are well made, the designs are fun and flirty, eclectic, chic and daring, and sometimes just altogether abstract. These are all things (if you're anything like me) you'll appreciate.

In this look I decided to pull inspo from the coat and go monochrome, and instead of getting crazy with the colors (despite the splash of the succulent red), I added additional interest by intertwining another black & white print in the mix.

Night Out.

by Jamila Pierre

When you're in a comfortable relationship where the two of you know everything there is to know about each other, where they've seen you at your worst and loved you still... date night can sometimes tend to look like a trip to the grocery store.

I don't care what anyone says, if you've been in a relationship...let alone a marriage...for a few years, it shows. Every time my husband and I go out I try and get slightly special, but sometimes you fall into a routine, a pattern that seeps into date night and if you're not diligent enough that phase can last a long time. So over the past few years I've tried to only look like a homeless man (ironically) at home.

Listen, listen, before you go all ape shit about looking good at home too let me just say I am not nor have I ever been the type of girl to put on a show all day every day, despite how it may seem sometimes.

I am most definitely a slightly reformed, self proclaimed, Tomboy. Now, I'm a self proclaimed Tomgirl, which as per my definition means that I still have a hobo streak but I clean up well.

Also, if you get all "FooFoo" at home all the time...the "FooFoo" won't be as special anymore, I mean what do you get someone who has everything....? If you give someone the whole show all of the time, it loses it's value. So my hubby gets the cute outfits when we go out (95% of the time), and at home...a little somethin' somethin' from time to time. I plan on being with this man for centuries to come, I can't have him desensitized so soon.

Now let's talk about this dress!

If you know me you know that I love a good dress, it's the simplest way to show out with very little thought. Especially when you're too busy to to figure out a great look, or you're the type of person who has a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear...when you literally stare at your wardrobe for an hour, walk away, have a melt down, walk back, stare at your wardrobe again for another hour, look at the time and realize you're running late, and are still nowhere closer to figuring out what the hell to wear.

This is why a great dress is a great friend, it eliminates a lot of the guess work.

My closet is filled to the brim with dresses for this reason, and because...well...they're beautiful, and who doesn't like beautiful things?

So when I saw this dress , the design, the cut, the way the mesh comes down lower than the built-in slip, the way it's an understated sexy yet not at the same time .....I just knew, I JUST KNEW!

When I get dressed for date night, as of the past year or so, I've made it my personal mission to seduce my husband...more than I ever have before, this dress was a wonderful addition to my arsenal that would help me along the way.

There's almost nothing better than seeing the eyes of your man light up when you walk out of the bedroom, ready for a night out, looking as fine as you wanna. There's also nothing like seeing/feeling how lucky HE feels to be donning you on his arm as the two of you floss in the streets.

On top of the world much?
