Night Out.

by Jamila Pierre

When you're in a comfortable relationship where the two of you know everything there is to know about each other, where they've seen you at your worst and loved you still... date night can sometimes tend to look like a trip to the grocery store.

I don't care what anyone says, if you've been in a relationship...let alone a marriage...for a few years, it shows. Every time my husband and I go out I try and get slightly special, but sometimes you fall into a routine, a pattern that seeps into date night and if you're not diligent enough that phase can last a long time. So over the past few years I've tried to only look like a homeless man (ironically) at home.

Listen, listen, before you go all ape shit about looking good at home too let me just say I am not nor have I ever been the type of girl to put on a show all day every day, despite how it may seem sometimes.

I am most definitely a slightly reformed, self proclaimed, Tomboy. Now, I'm a self proclaimed Tomgirl, which as per my definition means that I still have a hobo streak but I clean up well.

Also, if you get all "FooFoo" at home all the time...the "FooFoo" won't be as special anymore, I mean what do you get someone who has everything....? If you give someone the whole show all of the time, it loses it's value. So my hubby gets the cute outfits when we go out (95% of the time), and at home...a little somethin' somethin' from time to time. I plan on being with this man for centuries to come, I can't have him desensitized so soon.

Now let's talk about this dress!

If you know me you know that I love a good dress, it's the simplest way to show out with very little thought. Especially when you're too busy to to figure out a great look, or you're the type of person who has a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear...when you literally stare at your wardrobe for an hour, walk away, have a melt down, walk back, stare at your wardrobe again for another hour, look at the time and realize you're running late, and are still nowhere closer to figuring out what the hell to wear.

This is why a great dress is a great friend, it eliminates a lot of the guess work.

My closet is filled to the brim with dresses for this reason, and because...well...they're beautiful, and who doesn't like beautiful things?

So when I saw this dress , the design, the cut, the way the mesh comes down lower than the built-in slip, the way it's an understated sexy yet not at the same time .....I just knew, I JUST KNEW!

When I get dressed for date night, as of the past year or so, I've made it my personal mission to seduce my husband...more than I ever have before, this dress was a wonderful addition to my arsenal that would help me along the way.

There's almost nothing better than seeing the eyes of your man light up when you walk out of the bedroom, ready for a night out, looking as fine as you wanna. There's also nothing like seeing/feeling how lucky HE feels to be donning you on his arm as the two of you floss in the streets.

On top of the world much?

Work Ready: Polka Dotty

by Jamila Pierre

So, I'm sure I'm not the only blogger out there who has a boat load of photos and/or outfit posts that never make it to the actual blog. Whether it's because you had a heavy hand in editing, the angle was all wrong, you made the stupidest face imaginable, or the outfit was just not at all what you envisioned. though I like certain elements of both, in my opinion, they both fall short of glory.

Never intended to post these looks on my blog, just didn't feel like it. But someone in my life told me that I should...so here it is.

I have a true affinity for work-wear, as you should know by now,  so naturally that's the silhouette I showcase most often.

The outfit to the left was the outfit I was going to post for the astrology sign Caner, didn't exactly feel right for the sign so I nixed that idea, the one on the right was an outfit incorporating a top that I purchased one size too big and had no idea how to wear it until almost a year later.

If I had to choose which polka dotty look I liked best, I'd pick the one on the right. it's interesting to see how vastly different I look from image to image with just a few key changes in hair style and accessories..

It's like Good Jamila vs. Bad Jamila.

In any event, here are the two looks, don't hesitate to give your opinion on them. Adios amigos.
