Smell the Roses.

by Jamila Pierre

Jeez Louise this top!

I went to the shopping strip in my old Bushwick neighborhood, with no intention of buying a damn thing, and came upon a mecca of leatherette detailed garb.

As you could imagine, Christmas came early.

I paired this luscious  t-shirt with a black pencil skirt, I wanted the rose leatherette pannel to take center stage.

I also love how this top has it's own "Statement Necklace" built in on the neckline.

I threw on some  black pumps, my over-sized sunnies, and my huge stacked bracelets.

Simple, clean, sassy, everything you could ask for.

Witness the floral detail on the back, I love all the different ways you can do floral.

And guess what.....? You'll flip when you hear how much this top costs, especially if you knew how well made and thick this top actually is.

You never know where you'll find your gems, keep looking, have an open mind, and remember that most things last, as long as you treat them well.

I've had expensive things fall apart within a matter of months and I've had inexpensive things last for years, don't get sucked into the hype.

Shirt Dress

by Jamila Pierre

Who doesn't love a good shirt dress? If you haven't gotten into it, I suggest you do. They are the most easy going, smart yet casual looking item you could own in your wardrobe.
There are so many varieties and depending on the cut and material, you can really amp up your look or be super casual.

What an amazingly versatile piece to have in your arsenal. On this day I chose to go more casual, and yes I went for the triple C's (Comfy Casual, Cute).

I purchased this number soooooo many moons ago and had sooooo many plans for it, and if you know me then you've guessed that it took me forever to finally wear it. I'm just weird and slightly insane like that.

Everything has a time and place, sometimes you have to wait years before it becomes said time and place.

What I'm Wearing:

  1. Shirt-dress from Conway about 6yrs ago. $12
  2. Belt from Forever21. $10.80
  3. Necklace from Telco. $6
  4. Bracelets from Fashion To Figure. $12
  5. Boots from Avenue.com. $33.60
