Chartreuse & Pig-Buns

by Jamila Pierre

I am and forever will be a fan of this color....in other news:

On this day I headed out with the hubz to run a few errands, it was also the first time in a long time that I wore my hair up in two pig-buns. Once upon a time my hair was sans locks and I rocked the hell out of this hair style all of the time...to the point of nauseum. I then started the locking process and my hairstyle varied from a ponytail to just plain ole' loose. At some point my hair grew down to the crack of my ass and by then my hair was too massive for me to balance with finesse.  A good 6 yrs later I cut my hair into a bob, this didn't allow me much leeway as it pertains to styling, and just a couple of months ago I decided to let my hair grow again to see if it could reach my tookus once more.

In the mean time I decided to pull out my tried and true hairstyle (the pig-buns) and i'm curious to see how sick and tired I can become of it...care to join me?

As for the outfit... I paired one of my most comfortable pantalones of all time (next to my Forever21 high-waisted  jeans), with a chartreuse blouse and my studded boots. I wanted to teeter on the edge  of  "I just rolled out of my closet" and "I actually give a damn" so I cuffed up my jeans, threw on a necklace, popped on a lippy, threw my hair up, and was ready to go.

Sequin Mustache

by Jamila Pierre

So, even though my birthday was on a Thursday, I took the liberty of celebrating throughout the weekend. I celebrated with all the most important people in my life, on separate days of course. After a night of drinks, another night of movies and fabulous food, and several get out of "diet jail' free cards, I was finally  ready to celebrate the last day of my birth week with my mom and fam.

Funny enough, during all these outings and celebrations, I ended up alone and doing absolutely nothing on my actual birthday. I participated in festivities on  every other day....strange right? But I did want to take my actual birthday for myself. I needed to reflect....dead serious. Lately I have been living deep inside myself and trying to make sense of all the new neuro-connections that have come about within the last year.

For this last celebration of my birthday, I wanted to feel cute and comfy...when don't I want to be cute and comfy...when does anyone not want to be cute and comfy? Anyway, I decided that since it was a tad chilly I would rock a sweatshirt and jeans instead of what I originally wanted to wear, which was a dress. I threw on some shiny flats and kept it pushin'.

You can't go wrong with your most perfect fitting jeans, holographic python flats with metal plated tips, and a sequin mustache sweatshirt. Not to mention the most perfect bag that I purchased so many moons ago and had sitting in a dust bag for over a year... waiting for the right moment to rock it.

What I'm Wearing:

  1. Mustache sweater from Forever21.com. $24.80
  2. Necklace from a street-fair in Chelsea. $2
  3. Bracelet from Forever21. $4.80
  4. Jeans from Forever21. $22.80
  5. Flats from Fabco Shoes. $15 (BOGO Sale)
  6. Bag from Stawberry. $30

Here's a close up of the shoes.

Super thankful that my mom has awesome taste in pastries and took the time to help celebrate my personal New Year. I love her so much!
