I want to share with you guys my love of music. My focus will be on songs that I've been vibing to the most each week. Guys, there are so many songs I want to share with you! Now, some you may not like, some you may love, some you may remember, and some may be new to you and heading to your music device stat...either way, this is a peek into my music world and my taste. Respect it, enjoy it, and I hope I either introduce you to something or bring back fond memories.
Disclaimer: These are not my songs and I am not claiming them.
LET'S GET STARTED!!!
#1 Queens Of The Stone Age- No One Knows: This song, though it brings back many great memories, brings a tear to my eyes because I really miss music like this. I just love this song and all the nostalgia it brings.
#2 Lauryn Hill- I Find It Hard TO Say: When I first heard this song I cried real tears. It'd been a while since a song made me ugly cry (maybe I was already going through something and the timing was perfect) regardless this song is so relevant and will continue to be till the end of time.
#3 Bus Driver- Imaginary Places: I mean holy crap! You know when a song brings back the exact moment with a person? This one brings back the very first time my husband shared his music with me, like really shared it with me...and I wasn't disappointed. I became obsessed with this song for months, it was borderline ridiculous. The flow and beat, and the actual music video is like the artist was bringing us back to basics.
#4 Alanis Morisette- You Oughta Know: Who? I ask again....WHO didn't love or know this artist or this song?! If you happen to be the nay-sayer raising your hand...just be informed....you will be ignored (it's not your fault that you don't understand life's meaning). As a teen this song was always blaring through the headphones, I was Alanis, and EVERYONE OUGHTA KNOW!
#5 The Prodigy- Breathe: All hell broke loose when I first heard this song and saw the video, the dopeness is unreal. Keith Flint quickly became my favorite, and many of Prodigy's songs that followed won my heart as well. But, Maxim....#SWOON, when he popped up on the screen in the Breathe video....I was just in instant lust with that man.
#6 Electric Six- Danger High Voltage: This song is my go to, every time I say the word danger...refer to something dangerous....it's either playing in my head or I'm sing it. I can't help it, it's been with me since day one! I love this song, the music video is controversial, and everything about it deserves more hype nowadays than it's ever gotten before. What's funny is...every time I ask anyone if they've heard this song...no one knows what I'm talking about....and it's really starting to piss me off. How dare you (** Mrs. Big Head voice from Rocko's Modern Life**)
#7 Kid Art- 100 ft. Vinny Chase: I came across this gem through my homie Angelica, she let me listen to another Kid Art song and in listening to to that one I came across many of his other amazing ones. I also found that I really like Vinny Chase (he will be in future playlists...trust), so for the past few months I have been having their albums on heavy rotation.
#8 Cheif Keef- Hate Being Sober: This ISH right here tho........like.....you will get your entire life with it blaring through your speakers or headphones. No matter how hard you try to keep still, this song makes you move (and sometimes without even noticing). The breakdowns are sickening, yet another reason why trap music, or "trap-ish" music (which let's face it...if you're a party kid you know it's just a revamped hybrid of Gabber, Hip Hop, and some other ISH) is my JAM.
#9 Funkadelic- Get Into The Groove: Thuis is the ultimate party song, it's long, it gets people into a good mood, it brings back memories, and makes people want to dance. Now if you're strictly into Ratchery (no shade, I loves me some Ratchet party music) then this song might not be the song for you. All I know is when I hear it I begin to sway, and before you know it I'm all into it on the dance floor. I grew up with this so it's just feel good music.
Last but not least, #10 Michael Jackson- Dirty Dianna: This song is by far one of my absolute favorites from the late great. I feel like...in the world I grew up in...this song didn't get as much play and love as all his other amazing songs, yet I feel it's one of the best. And if you really want to feel this song for all it's worth you have to blast it while driving on the road at night with your windows down.
Well, there you have it, my top ten for this week!
Thank you for braving through that with me. Remember every Saturday I will bring you a new list of my top 10 songs of the week, in the NCS Stereo (NaughtCouture's Saturday Stereo) segment. Most times there's a focus on artists; here I will be focusing predominately on specific songs, how they make me feel, what I like about the particular song, how I discovered them, and/or sometimes the memories that come attached to them.
