Technically this wasn't day one of NYFW, but it was definitely the first day I stepped on out...so it's my "day one". There were so many events this NYFW that I should've and could've been a part of but the way my health is set up....
Though it was my first day being out and about, it wasn't to attend any events, I was just coming out to hang with some fellow plus community boss babes. It was an opportunity to link up with folks I'd been speaking with through social media for some time. Truth be told I almost didn't come out due to said health issues, but I pushed through, thank God I did. If I hadn't sucked it up as best I could I would've regretted it deeply and missed out on meeting such amazing folk.
Most importantly, I didn't want to miss meeting #SwoobSquad member, Morgot (@MargotMeanie), and I can't wait to finally meet the last of our squad, Tracy (@Bxrtmn). One day we shall all be together to fuck up the city; Ushishi, Margot, Tracy and I, just shuttin' shit down!
When I first found out that Margot was coming down from Canada I was super stoked and knew that I wanted to shoot a boomerang of Ushshi, Margot and I, and send it to Tracy. I had this image of us dancing to the song Gang Gang by MaxP in a boomerang loop. If you go to my Instagram you'll see the end result, It's pretty EPIC if you ask me.
I also had plans to wear some over the top outfit to commemorate NYFW, but truthfully, I was more interested in being super comfy; we were gonna be gallivanting around Chinatown so comfort was paramount. So I threw on this Killstar "So Goth I'm Dead" shirt-dress, my tried and true plaid button down with the vertebra print on the back (almost rocked the blk &wht plaid with the skull on back but I felt it would've been overkill and not in a good way), chucked on some cat-eyed shades, donned my ruff and tough Afro puffs, and paired it all with my "I Don't Care" leggings from (you'll never guess.... Rainbow) and my "I wanna be comfortable but not at the cost of a frumpy sneaker" leatherette kicks from the Christian Siriano collection at Payless (which at their prices these days should be called Paymore). And by no means are all sneakers frumpy, but you get where I'm coming from....right?
Overall I was pretty pleased with my look and was as comfortable as one could be though they've made the grave mistake of wearing leggings with satin underwear. I knew I was making a mistake...but I did it anyway. I had to hold my leggings up while I traipsed around Chinatown (thank the lord my top was long enough to cover my struggle, because there was a moment where if my top wasn't as long as it was....the world would've gotten a clear look at my ass).

After some pre-lunch at the Chinatown Market, we hit up Magic Jewelry to get our auras photographed and read. In accordance to the woman who read my aura, I am completely in-tune, sensitive to my surroundings, highly intelligent and creative, scatter brained at the moment because so much is going on and if I thought this week was busy...I had no idea for the weeks ahead. Apparently all my chakras are open, and I'm definitely in need of a bit-o-sleep.

The middle aura photo is Alysse (@readytostare), and the far right is Margot's aura photograph. The woman also said that there was a deep connection between Alysse and I (though we just met) because our auras aligned. Overall the reading mirrored what each of us was going through at the moment so it was a 20 spot well spent (if not for the experience and photograph keepsake alone)
We stopped by a Tony Moly shop on our way to my favorite lo mein spot (for our ACTUAL lunch), and finished the day off with a little bit of ice cream. I had my most favorite flavor of ice cream to date (black sesame), from a tiny place that smells all sorts of divine upon opening the door, Taiyaki.
