Hey ya’ll, I’m taking a break from CowCow this week, but next week we’re for sure back on track.
One of the reasons I started this project (the one where I gush over the clothing pieces and brands that I feel have saved my life during all of my disabled years thus far) is to not only gush, but to be able to be somewhat of a resource to my fellow spoonies out there who understand what it’s like to feel like shit….but not wanting to look the way they feel. We may not share the same style (or maybe we do), but I promise you that all of the brands I shop with have something that’ll make you feel good in some way or another.
If you’re a Naughtcouture Veteran, then you already know what styles of clothing, accessories, home décor, etc…appeal to me. If you’re new round these parts, I won’t bore you too much with all of the details (you can peruse my blog to read up on it or skim through my photos to get the jist); I’ll just make it super brief. My style is an eclectic ball of kitsch, Boho, Fae/Mer- folk, mixed with Alt-Glam. And if it were possible to *Salt-Bae-Sprinkle* skulls, spikes, animal print, and studded-duds into the mix; that’s me.
There’s no such thing as age appropriate in my book, and I hope to forever be either over the top and extra like a side of guac, or casual with a dash of Razzle-Dazzle. Until the day I die. That’s why all of my pieces have a little something special going for them. As I’ve stated many times before, these things are my idea of “basics”. A simple pair of black leggings gets bumped up several notches if you make them faux leather leggings….or if you make them have at least a little shine. A plain black long-sleeve can have just a bit of ZAZAZOO if it is graphic. A basic bookbag can be kick ball changed into a skeleton teddy. It isn’t hard to make these swaps in order to add some Sazon and Adobo to the mix. Give your look some flavor, you won’t regret it. This is just me going to the dentist. Nothing lit my day up more than the compliments I got on my teddy from the old polish lady from the deli around my way, and the compliment of my snazzy eyeshadow look from the dental assistant. It was a rough day as it is and it truly is the small things that can ease the stress of it. Small swaps can change everything. I encourage you to think about that when you get dressed to head out.
